{"id":1308,"date":"2015-04-21T14:42:34","date_gmt":"2015-04-21T14:42:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.humanrightsagency.com\/?p=1308"},"modified":"2015-04-21T14:42:34","modified_gmt":"2015-04-21T14:42:34","slug":"fresh-clashes-claim-seven-lives-in-southwestern-pakistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.agencedh.org\/en\/index.php\/2015\/04\/21\/fresh-clashes-claim-seven-lives-in-southwestern-pakistan\/","title":{"rendered":"Fresh clashes claim seven lives in southwestern Pakistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>At least seven people have been killed in separate\u00a0clashes between militants and paramilitary soldiers in the restive Balochistan Province in southwest Pakistan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the first incident,\u00a0Paramilitary Frontier Corps spokesman, Manzoor Ahmed, said\u00a0a series of\u00a0violent\u00a0clashes\u00a0took place some 80\u00a0kilometers\u00a0(50 miles) north of Gwadar, leaving at least two\u00a0paramilitary troopers and a militant dead.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Two soldiers were martyred and an insurgent was killed and another captured in a clash with security forces,&#8221; media outlets quoted Ahmed as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, a series of clashes broke out after a group of heavily armed militants attacked a convoy of security forces in the Mashqay area of Awaran district. Sources say at least four militants were killed in a fierce exchange of fire in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a spokesman for the militants has claimed responsibility for a separate\u00a0attack on the Gwadar\u00a0airport.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts say the attack on the airport\u00a0highlights the challenges to a huge Chinese investment project in Gawader where Beijing has already\u00a0announced to invest billions of dollars\u00a0in\u00a0multiple projects.<\/p>\n<p>Pro-Taliban militants and some Baloch insurgent groups have carried out numerous attacks against security forces as well as civilians despite frequent offensives by the Pakistani army.<\/p>\n<p>Some Baloch militant groups say they want greater political autonomy and a share of the province&#8217;s natural resources.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001, when Pakistan entered an alliance with the US in the so-called war on terror.
