{"id":1865,"date":"2015-07-13T12:30:40","date_gmt":"2015-07-13T12:30:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.humanrightsagency.com\/?p=1865"},"modified":"2015-07-13T12:30:40","modified_gmt":"2015-07-13T12:30:40","slug":"far-right-group-challenges-ukraines-government-after-gun-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.agencedh.org\/en\/index.php\/2015\/07\/13\/far-right-group-challenges-ukraines-government-after-gun-battle\/","title":{"rendered":"Far right group challenges Ukraine\u2019s government after gun battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Ukrainian far right group has demanded the resignation of the county\u2019s interior minister while blocking roads around Kyiv in a protest following a fatal gun battle.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of supporters of Right Sector are calling for more demonstrations to be held across the county.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday two ultra-nationalists were killed in a shootout with police in the western town of Mukacheve.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the violence is unclear, Red Sector claims its members were set upon by local police.<\/p>\n<p>Officials suggest the violence was a turf war between groups keen to control smuggling routes to neighbouring Hungary and Romania.<\/p>\n<p>At least six police officers were wounded in the incident.<br \/>\nKyiv has called on Red Sector, which played a prominent role in protests that toppled Moscow-backed President Viktor Yanukovych a year ago, to lay down their weapons.<\/p>\n<p>Red Sector has so far refused and the two sides are locked in a standoff.
