Three people, including a 9-year-old girl, were injured when gunfire broke out in Compton on Monday night, sheriff’s deputies said.<\/p>\n
The shooting was reported about 8:15 p.m. near Alondra Boulevard and Central Avenue, said Sgt. K. Ebbinga of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.<\/p>\n
The circumstances surrounding the shooting were unclear. Witnesses described hearing up to eight shots.<\/p>\n
“At this time, it is unknown if the shootings are gang related,” deputies said in a news release.<\/p>\n
All three people were taken to the hospital, but the severity of their injuries was not immediately clear. Deputies at the scene said the girl suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
