{"id":3464,"date":"2016-12-13T09:32:04","date_gmt":"2016-12-13T09:32:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.humanrightsagency.com\/?p=3464"},"modified":"2016-12-13T09:32:04","modified_gmt":"2016-12-13T09:32:04","slug":"the-coptic-church-of-france-strongly-reacted-to-the-attack-in-cairo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.agencedh.org\/en\/the-coptic-church-of-france-strongly-reacted-to-the-attack-in-cairo\/","title":{"rendered":"The Coptic Church of France strongly reacted to the attack in Cairo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At least 25 people were killed on Sunday (11th December) in a bomb attack inside a Coptic-Orthodox church adjacent to St. Mark&#8217;s Cathedral in Cairo.<\/p>\n<p>The Metropolitan of the Coptic Orthodox Church in France strongly reacted to the attack in Cairo.<\/p>\n<p>The Metropolitan of the Coptic Orthodox Church of France spoke in very strong terms to &#8220;Sputnik&#8221; about the recent attack in St Mark&#8217;s Cathedral in Cairo as a revolting, distressing and appalling one.<\/p>\n<p>An explosion took place in full celebration on Sunday, December 11, in St. Peter&#8217;s and St. Paul&#8217;s Church, adjacent to the Coptic St. Mark&#8217;s Cathedral in Cairo. The balance sheet has gradually increased from five to 20, then a minimum of 25 deaths, as the rescue operations on the site progress.<\/p>\n<p>The last bomb attack against a Coptic church dates back to 1 January 2011. Twenty-one people had died in an attack in Alexandria.<\/p>\n<p>The Orthodox Copts constitute the majority of the Christian community in Egypt, the largest in the Middle East and one of the oldest.
