But, it seems that the violence would be one of the main security challenges to which the elected president of the most populous country in Africa, will have to respond.<\/h6>\n<p>The exploitation of land and water resources are two major issues around which the northwestern and central regions of Nigeria are regularly the scene of conflicts and tensions.<\/p>\n<p>Recently more than 30 people were killed in clashes between farmers and herders in villages in the state, according to Dan Manjang, plateau State Commissioner For Information in Nigeria. A witness spoke of looting and houses and properties that were burned and destroyed and grain that was burned by mercenaries and attackers.<\/p>\n<p>For africanews, &#8220;the violence in the north-west and central Nigeria has gone from the stage of killing to that of crime in the broad sense&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>In April, intercommunal violence in Benue State in Nigeria left 50 people dead.<\/p>\n<p>The Niger army must deal with separatist tensions in the southeast and fight the jihadists in the northeast of the country.
