Globally, Africa is experiencing an exponential increase in the number of cholera cases amid a sharp increase in cases. In Zimbabwe the epidemic has already spread to more than 17 districts traditionally affected by cholera.<\/em><\/h6>\n

Zimbabwe’s capital Harare has been declared a state of emergency due to a resurgence of cholera, which has already claimed 51 confirmed lives, infected more than 7,000 people in the country and continues to spread, said on Friday mayor, Ian Makone.<\/p>\n

For the mayor the current situation is alarming, given the number of confirmed cases in most districts of the capital, recognizing that the main cause is the absence of drinking water.<\/p>\n

The epidemic has already spread to more than 17 districts traditionally affected by cholera in the country.<\/p>\n

Acute diarrheal infection caused by ingesting food or water contaminated with bacteria, Cholera is on the rise in Africa, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).<\/p>\n

Africa is experiencing an exponential increase in the number of cholera cases in a context of a sharp increase in cases globally.
\nAccording to reports from the UN health agency, the number of cases reported on the continent in the first month of 2023 alone reached more than 30% of the total number of cases recorded for the whole of 2022.<\/p>\n
