Condolences and Solidarity with the victims of the earthquake that shook Syria and Turkey

An earthquake that occurred at dawn on February 5, 2023 with a magnitude of 7.7 and a second that occurred during the afternoon with a magnitude of 7.6 shook Turkey and Syria causing thousands of deaths and wounded.

The Human Rights Agency expresses its deep pain at the thousands of Turkish and Syrian victims and their families who were victims of the tragic earthquake that occurred on February 5, 2023 in Syria and Turkey.

The ADH calls on the international community to speed up relief operations and the delivery of humanitarian aid in order to meet the urgent needs of the populations.

Turkey’s public disaster management body (Afad) announced that Turkey was rocked by two earthquakes on Monday; the first occurred at dawn with a magnitude of 7.7 and the second occurred during the afternoon with a magnitude of 7.6. In addition, Afad has reported thousands of deaths and injuries as a result of these earthquakes, a toll likely to increase daily.
