Who are we ?

The Human Rights Agency (also called ADH) is an association founded in Geneva in 2014. The NGO opened its new office in 2023 in Brussels.

Concretely, it is a small group of citizens sensitive to the unacceptable living conditions experienced by people living in the four corners of the world.

This group has decided, on its own scale, to intervene by implementing various tools to give vulnerable people back their rights, and above all to be able to live with dignity. In other words, the ADH wants respect for human rights everywhere in the world.

The primacy of these rights is expressed in the preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) which recognizes that all men are equal and alike by « Considering that recognition of the inherent dignity of all members of the human family and their equal and inalienable rights constitutes the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world ».

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights marked a decisive step, highlighting universal values and a common ground in terms of human rights for all. Moreover, it highlights that all human beings are born free and equal.

Our values :

ADH promotes the principles of equality, freedom and justice, as well as respect for the fundamental rights of all individuals throughout the world. Its purpose is to defend access to fair justice, education, economic independence as well as access to any other essential area guaranteeing a dignified and respectable life for all vulnerable people deprived of their rights.

Moreover, in order to be able to work freely and to carry out its objective of eradicating as much as possible injustices and breaches of fundamental rights, the ADH is apolitical.

Our mission:

The ADH wants to empower and sensitize citizens to social issues related to human rights, and thereby enabling the emancipation of as many people as possible.

It is therefore necessary to carry out substantive work in order to better improve the living conditions for people deprived of their freedoms and the rights they should enjoy.

The ADH focuses mainly on the dissemination of reliable information to the various actors of change in order to improve the situation of communities deprived of their rights and fundamental freedoms.

Our means of action:

For this, the ADH sets up various actions, such as demonstrations and appeals to the judiciary. In addition, in order to reach as many people as possible, the ADH is implementing an awareness campaign for the very varied program:

-Activities, (Reports/Presentations sent and presented to UN bodies in Geneva)
– Conferences / debates,
– Trainings and animations,

Written statement, presented by the ADH at the Fifty-second session of the HRC-Agenda Item 9

– At the center of all its activities, the ADH relies and bases itself on legal texts, signed and ratified by the Belgian State such as, for example, the European Convention on Human Rights.
