Attack against a mosque in Egypt: more than 300 dead including 27 children

After the historically deadly attack on Friday in Bir el-Abed, north of Sinai, the country is in national mourning and this Saturday the first funerals will be held.

A balance sheet still revised upwards. This Saturday, the latest assessment provided by the Egyptian authorities reports 305 deaths, including 27 children. The previous count reported 235 dead and 109 wounded.

This rare attack in a mosque is both the bloodiest in the country’s recent history, and one of the deadliest in the world since the September 11 attacks in the United States.
