Journal of a young migrant: life in the refugee camp of Moria

Open since October 16, the « Hotspot » of Moria in Lesvos is the largest registration center for refugees in Greece. This center allows migrants to receive a paper with their name, their origin and their fingerprints.

Registration is fast enough since « one day is enough to take the steps, » says Anna Panou, psychologist, Doctors of the World in the camp. After their arrival, migrants are queuing to get a number and wait again to get their papers. According to UNHCR (High Commissioner for Refugees), nearly 20,000 migrants were present at Lesbos in September.

There are several NGOs and associations present on site to provide medicine, food and clothes. Sahar Afghan refugee, shows their support but remains doubtful: « They are kind and available to migrants, but they do not give enough food … Anyway, it’s better than nothing. » (…)
