State of emergency: Zimbabwe, resurgence of cholera!

Globally, Africa is experiencing an exponential increase in the number of cholera cases amid a sharp increase in cases. In Zimbabwe the epidemic has already spread to more than 17 districts traditionally affected by cholera.

Zimbabwe’s capital Harare has been declared a state of emergency due to a resurgence of cholera, which has already claimed 51 confirmed lives, infected more than 7,000 people in the country and continues to spread, said on Friday mayor, Ian Makone.

For the mayor the current situation is alarming, given the number of confirmed cases in most districts of the capital, recognizing that the main cause is the absence of drinking water.

The epidemic has already spread to more than 17 districts traditionally affected by cholera in the country.
