Sénégal : Quatre-vingts ans après le massacre colonial français des soldats

Le Sénégal a commémoré le 80ᵉ anniversaire du massacre de soldats africains ayant combattu pour la France pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Ces soldats ont été abattus par l’armée française en 1944 après avoir exigé un traitement équitable et le paiement de leurs arriérés à leur retour.
Ils attendaient une compensation financière pour leurs années de service, durant lesquelles ils avaient combattu pour la France et subi des détentions dans des camps nazis. Mais au lieu de recevoir ce qu’ils méritaient, plus de 500 cartouches ont été tirées sur eux en 15 secondes. Selon Martin Mourre, historien français, il s’agit d’une véritable exécution de soldats non armés.
Les premiers rapports de l’armée française évoquaient la mort de 35 soldats ouest-africains, tandis que d’autres documents parlaient de 70 victimes. Cependant, des recherches récentes menées par des historiens français et sénégalais estiment que le massacre aurait fait plusieurs centaines de morts, peut-être près de 400, d’après le nombre de tirailleurs présents dans le camp ce jour-là.
Le Sénégal réclame depuis longtemps que la France reconnaisse officiellement sa responsabilité, présente des excuses et enquête sur ce massacre.
