Somalia: Rebellious Attack to Intelligence Site

At least 12 people lost their lives in a car bomb and armed attack to a national intelligence site in Somalia’s capital. This is the place where suspected militants are kept.
According to statistics, the victims included three soldiers, two civilians, and seven militants as well as the suicide bomber.
It seems that the attackers aimed to release their militant colleagues who were held in the underground cells. However, all the militants were killed within 45 minutes of the attack start.
Al Shabaab’s spokesman for military operations believes that the prisoners are innocent Muslims who have been tortured and humiliated in the prison for a long period of time. Al Shabaab controlled Mogadishu and the southern region of Somalia from 2006 to 2011. It was driven out of the capital by peacekeeping forces that were deployed by the African Union.
