Ukraine: Ongoing Human Rights Violations

According to the UN report, an average number of 36 people lose their lives everyday due to intense fighting in populated areas of eastern Ukraine. The report emphasizes that a lot of civilians are trapped in urban areas and seek the ways to escape the fighting in the region. The crisis inside the conflict zones has harmed many people and forced them to flee while many intolerable hardships and challenges are ahead.
Violation of international humanitarian law is evident and a wide array of serious abuses is committed by both armed groups who have seized control and Ukraine forces who try to recapture territory.
Human rights abuses include abductions involving physical and psychological torture as well as ill-treatment of the detainees. Forced labor, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances, and torture are examples of human rights violations committed by the Ukrainian and special battalions.
It is essential that the government takes firm action to prevent all forms of violations of human rights and humanitarian law.
